The front is a picture of a hydropower station, gravure-printed in purple tones; the reverse is offset-printed with the national emblem and the Chinese, Mongolian, Tibetan, and Uighur characters of “People’s Bank of China, Five-jiao” in offset-printed purple tones; it can be divided into no watermark and five-pointed star watermark. Two kinds. The banknote was issued on March 1, 1955, and ceased circulation on January 1, 1999. Ticket size is 125 × 57.5 mm (4.92 × 2.26 inches).
