Both sides are gravure printed with offset printing shading. The front is a picture of Yongxin Longyuankou Bridge in dark green; the back is the national emblem and “People’s Bank of China, three yuan” in Chinese, Mongolian, Tibetan and Uygur characters, dark green tone; hollow five-pointed star watermark. The banknote was issued on March 1, 1955 and printed by the Soviet Union. It was only accepted but not paid starting on April 15, 1964. After the conflict between China and the Soviet Union, a large number of counterfeit Soviet-made banknotes were discovered in Xinjiang. This banknote is the only three-yuan denomination of RMB and was stopped from circulation on May 15, 1964. The number is preceded by three letters and followed by seven Arabic numerals. Ticket size is 160 × 72.5 mm (6.3 × 2.85 inches).
